Zoo Creative rebranding launch

Zoo Creative is a multifaceted creative agency located on the Gold Coast, providing diverse services in the design space such as creative signage, digital printing, event activation, graphic design, visual merchandise and brand experiences.

Zoo creative approached me to bring their vision to life in three promotional images that would late be used in their marketing funnel that tells the new and existing audiences that they create bold, distinctive and attention grabbing brand experiences.

Their vision for the images was to integrate their new logo design as 3D models into the Australian infrastructure.

The Process

The main concern from the Zoo creative team was if the final outcome will look too much like 3D models placed into a photograph, pointing toward some of the A.I generated images they have tried prior to reaching out to me. The images needed to convey a sense of realism within the integration.

Another concern was how the ‘Squish’ of the 3D models would appear in the photographs and whether the 3D models would adequately convey the look and feel of a ‘ balloon’ or a ‘pillow’.

Pain Point

Solving the Pain Point with a Proof of Concept

One of my Core values as a designer is to assure my clients the peace of mind that they deserve when undertaking a project with me. Therefore I created a handful of mock-ups as a proof on concept to show that their vision is in good hands.

3D Models and General Placement

Once the project was approved and we settled on a set of 3 images, then process of building out the scenes and creating a few sets of model placement variations with a basic general reflective texture as a place holder began.

After narrowing down the desired letter positioning in the images, we moved forward with some texture concepts for the letters. The client wanted to try 3 specific textures, Acrylic, Fabric, and Latex.

Texture Variations

For the final adjustment, I’ve refined the scenes by matching the shadow trajectories of the 3D models to the original image.

To further improve the model’s realism, I experimented with various positions of the environment lighting HDRI and added a second set of HDRIs that will accurately display the location’s reflections in the models by extracting the location data form Google Maps.
